All MacBook Pro models just received a major refresh:
The improvements include:
But the most interesting new addition could be Thunderbolt, a collaborative effort between Apple and Intel that may eventually replace Firewire, USB and also DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA video connections.
Full specs as well as more details on the new technologies can be found on Apple’s web site.
Gerre, our original Crabbapple in Residence (resumes now being accepted, only well qualified applicants need apply), is gearing up to leave the frigid climes of South Jersey for the dull monotony of day after day of warm cloudless skies that is apparently what passes for winter in Phoenix, AZ.
Fortunately through the magic of WordPress we’ll be able to keep up with Gerre’s cross-country exploits through his new blog:
He’s already got a few posts up and will be documenting his trip as he goes. Head on over and wish him well in the comments.
Apple has scheduled a media event for Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011 that by all indications appears to be for the announcement of iPad 2.
The image accompanying the media invite features an iPad so it seems a safe bet we’ll be getting the successor to last year’s wildly popular iPad 1.
In the meantime, courtesy of Mike, someone has actually gotten their hands on one of the new models and posted a detailed video of the new features:
It looks like the rumors of a smaller iPad form factor may not be correct.
Apple has removed the retail MobileMe boxes from the Apple Store, though you can still sign up for a free 60 day trial via the MobileMe web site. Could we also see a major announcement regarding this service next week?
Mike will be demonstrating TypeStyler “The Ultimate Styling Tool”:
Mac luminary, Ted Landau said in his recent article, “The Return of TypeStyler”: “There isn’t any Mac software, past or present, that can match TypeStyler 3… all Strider had to do was convert the original TypeStyler to a Mac OS X version and it would have a winner. And that’s what they did. But Strider did not stop there. They’ve thrown in an array of new features that make the program superior to its Classic predecessor.”
Presentation topics may change so be sure to verify on the day of the meeting. Got questions you’d like to have answered? Feel free to post them as comments before the meeting so the presenters have a chance to prepare.
