iPhone OS 3.0 is Out!

June 17th, 2009 in Apple, iPhone

Plug your iPhone into your Mac, launch iTunes and check for updates on the iPhone summary page and you should be greeted with the news that the new iPhone OS 3.0 is now available for download!

Well, at least you can download it now. I can’t update at the moment because Apple’s activation servers have melted under the load of early updaters.

This update is free for iPhone users but iPod touch will have to pay $9.95 for it.

June '09 Meeting: WWDC & Hidden Gems

Topic
WWDC ‘09 & a Few Hidden Gems
When
Friday, June 12th, 7:30pm – 10pm
Who
Bill Dickhardt, Carolyn Patterson
Where
Room M129, Building M, ACCC Mays Landing Campus

We’ll discuss the new announcements and revelations hot off the presses from this week’s Apple WorldWide Developers Conference (WWDC) held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. We should learn full details including release dates for both iPhone OS 3.0 and Mac OS X 10.6 a.k.a. “Snow Leopard” and there are sure to be accompanying hardware announcements. New iPhones seem likely but updated Mac hardware may debut as well.

Also on the agenda are demos of three “hidden gems”, apps you’ve probably never heard of but that are worth a look:

Folder Icon Maker – A shareware application that allows you to create custom folder icons for use in the Finder.

Computer Glasses – An application that selectively magnifies parts of the screen for easier viewing

Airfoil (and Airfoil Speakers for iPhone) – An application that allows you to stream any audio from your Mac to another computer, an Airport Express or an iPhone / iPod Touch.

Presentation topics may change so be sure to verify on the day of the meeting. Got questions you’d like to have answered? Feel free to post them as comments before the meeting so the presenters have a chance to prepare.
