Mac OS X 10.4.10 Update Released

June 20th, 2007 in Apple, Updates

Apple has just released another Tiger update: Mac OS X 10.4.10, the first time they’ve had to resort to double digit minor version numbers. It is available via either Software Update in the Apple menu or by direct download of either the 10.4.10 updater alone or a larger combo updater that includes all previous 10.4 updates. It’s been our experience that the combo updaters tend to have fewer post-install problems but it also weighs in at around 300MB.

Before applying any version of the update it is generally a good idea to launch Disk Utility from the Utilities folder in the Applications folder, click on the icon with your hard drive name in the left column, then click the Verify Disk button to ensure there are no existing problems.

You should definitely consider applying this update soon but if you want to be cautious you might want to wait a day or two while monitoring Macsurfer to ensure there are no known problems.

NOTE: When I applied the combo updater to my MacBook Pro it restarted twice, so don’t panic if your machine does the same before fully starting up.
