Apple has announced updated MacBook Pro laptops featuring a power efficient LED backlight (instead of the old fluorescent style), 802.11n wireless networking, up to 4GB of memory and the latest Intel Santa Rosa processors.
Note that only the 15 inch MacBook Pro uses the LED backlight, the 17 inch model still appears to use a fluorescent light.
Apple announcing this update in advance of next Monday’s WWDC Steve Jobs keynote (10am Pacific time) would seem to indicate they will have more important things to talk about. Are Leopard’s “secret features” big enough to consume the full hour and a half or will other shiny new hardware announcements also debut? Tune in next week to find out.
