Boot Camp Doesn’t Invalidate MacBookPro Warranty

April 13th, 2006 in General

You may or may not be aware of the fact that Apple recently released a software update it calls ‘Boot Camp’, which allows owners of Intel-based Macs to install and boot Windows XP, as well as boot to their original OS X partition. There are many, many rave reviews for Boot Camp, and more than a few cautionary tales of woe as well.

While Apple still maintains that they do not support beta software, which what Boot Camp has been classified as, they recently released a statement that they WILL honor the hardware warranty if your new ‘Intel inside’ Mac kicks the bucket after installing Boot Camp. That may not do you much good if your OS X partition heads south after installing Windows (as some have claimed happend to them), but at least if the absolute worst case scenario happens, your machine itself is covered.
